...presented with vistas of other worlds, glimpses of the outside and a reflection of the inside, of us. In the cave we are faced with ourselves and we are forced to revisit our own pasts and look to our future.
...the light between dark and the dark between light - the softening of such stark contrasts allows us to revisit painful pasts, to sit in the light of darkness and mend ourselves in the shadows. written by Victoria Scott (excerpt from exhibition catalogue, Roslyn Oxley9 gallery)
Bio: Daniel Boyd (b. 1982, Cairns, Australia)
Daniel Boyd’s practice is widely recognised for its engagement with the pluralities of time, space, culture and personal experience. At once intimate, historical and metaphysical in its scope, the Sydney-based artist’s paintings, video works and installations mine the complexity of perspectives through which we – individually and collectively – assemble cultural and personal memory.
